Review: Cosrx Ultimate Nourishing Rice Overnight Spa Mask

Hi everyone,

Today I’ll be reviewing something from one of my favourite brands – Cosrx. I’ve been a fan of K-beauty for about a year or so now and I love trying new and different products. I have tried a variety of Cosrx products and then I finally had the chance to purchase this and try it out after hearing amazing reviews. There is another sleeping mask – the honey one, which is also in my wish list, and hopefully I will be able to try that one next!

I got mine from Aphrodite & Hebe, but this is available from various k-beauty stockists.

Enriched with more than 68% of Rice Extract, this mask provides intensive nourishment and deep moisturization to help the skin clearer and softer.

Directions:

  • As an overnight mask:

Use in the end of the basic skin care routine before bed. Apply a decent amount on the skin.

  • As a wash-off mask:

Apply a generous amount of honey mask and leave it on for 15 minutes. Wash off with toner or tepid water.

  • As a cream (in the morning):

Use in the end of the basic skin care routine and proceed with your normal makeup step.

Ingredients:

Oryza Sativa (Rice) Extract, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Betaine, Niacinamide, Dimethicone, 1,2-Hexanediol, Cetearyl Olivate, Sorbitan Olivate, Elaeis Guineensis (Palm) Oil, Elaeis Guineensis (Palm) Kernel Oil, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Cetearyl Alcohol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Arginine, Carbomer, Allantoin, Xanthan Gum

First Impressions:

It’s pretty small, it’s 60ml. I like the shade of blue they’ve chosen for the packaging though. I wasn’t expecting the texture to be the way it was, mainly due to the fact that I’ve been used to the Laneige sleeping mask, which was kind of like a watery gel-like consistency, so this was a bit of a change. The texture is like a lotion, as it’s very light weight. It’s white in colour and applies to the skin smoothly.

It absorbs well into the skin, and washes off easily in the morning.

I also noticed that it has niacinamide in it – an ingredient I love!

What I like:

  • Application

It feels so nice to apply, and as I said, it absorbs into the skin nicely.

  • Leaves skin feeling soft

Every time I wash this off in the morning, my face feels super moisturised.

  • Nice overnight mask

What I like about overnight masks is that all I have to do is sleep and wait for it to work its magic! It’s like one of the easiest skincare products to use.

  • Ingredients

It has rice – moisturising and nourishing.

And niacinamide – brightening.

What I don’t like:

  • Packaging

I believe it used to come in a tub, but now it comes in a tube. I’d much prefer the tub because that way I can see all the product I have left inside. But their tub was also a bit smaller – 50g, so..I guess it’s one or the other haha.

  • Size

I would like to see this in a bigger size, it just seems that 60ml is so small. Whereas 80ml would be a good and decent size that’ll last some time.

Overall:

I have been enjoying using this overnight mask, and overall, I’ve enjoyed almost everything I’ve used from Cosrx. This is a nice mask, and it’s also multipurpose! Although I haven’t used it as a cream or wash off, I have a friend that loves using it as a cream because of its moisturising properties.

I’d say it’s somewhat affordable, especially from Aphrodite & Hebe. I’ve seen it being sold for about $30+ on other sites 😮 which is crazy to me!

I’m a bit disappointed that I haven’t seen much brightening in my skin from using this product, but I have noticed how soft and moisturised my skin feels from using this.

Tip – If you’re afraid of it smearing on your pillow etc. Try to apply a few hours before you sleep, so it has time to settle into your skin!

I always do this and find it doesn’t leave any mess on my pillow or bed.

Thanks for reading this weeks post, have you ever used an overnight mask before? Which one is your favourite? I’m always looking for new products to try!

With love,
