Monthly Empties – May

Can you believe we’re pretty much at the half way mark of the year? How fast did that go! Today I bring you my empties from May.

I did get through a few things this month:

  1. Taylor Swift Wonderstruck Perfume 100ml
  2. La Roche-Posay Effacular Duo+ sample
  3. Yes To Tomatoes Daily Pore Scrub 113g
  4. Detergent for Puff and Sponge 80ml
  5. Colgate Plax Freshmint 500ml
  6. Clean & Clear Essentials Moisturiser
  7. Phisohex 500ml
  8. Nivea Hydro Care

Taylor Swift Wonderstruck Perfume 100ml

always repurchase this perfume! It’s my signature perfume and I love it! I’ve finally finished my second bottle, earlier this month. It smells quite fruity and playful, I just love it.

What it’s called: Taylor Swift Wonderstruck EDP 100ml

How much it costs: Price varies from $25-$35

Where to buy it: Priceline, Chemist Warehouse, various Chemists

Would I repurchase: Yes

La Roche- Posay Effacular Duo+

I got handled this sample from a chemist when I bought some medication. It’s my first time trying La Roche-Posay products. Taken from a blog:

An infusion of the famous La Roche-Posay Thermal Spa Water reduces redness and inflammation. In that sense, using Effaclar Duo is a bit like cleaning a wound – you’re removing all of the bacteria, dead cells and oil, and healing the area with moisture and soothing ingredients.

I had about 3-5 uses from this, as it was only a sample so I had to really stretch out the uses. I didn’t find any improvement in my skin when using this to be honest. I might have had different outcomes if I had the full product and used it consistently.

What it’s called: La Roche- Posay Effacular Duo Plus

How much it costs: sample – free, full product – $25-$30

Where to buy it: Priceline, Chemist Warehouse, various Chemists

Would I purchase: No

Yes To Tomatoes Daily Pore Scrub

This was another first time purchase product. I’ve wanted to try this for ages, after hearing so many good reviews on it, and when it was on sale at Priceline, I decided to give it a go. I found that it had a bit of an alcoholic smell to me, but I love the exfoliant – which was bamboo. I also liked how this was made from 97% natural products. As read on the tube:

Salicylic acid and bamboo to gently exfoliate pores. Paraben free.”

This is advertised for daily use, however I didn’t use to everyday – every 2-3 days at the most. I found that I did finish this quite quickly, which was a big disappointing because my other scrubs have all lasted more than a month.

What it’s called: Yes To Tomatoes Daily Pore Scrub 113g

How much it costs: $15

Where to buy it: Priceline

Would I repurchase: No

Detergent for Puff and Sponge

I LOVE this! I’ve purchased this about twice already. It’s only $2.80 and is the best thing to wash brushes and sponges with – even though it mainly advertises for puffs and sponges. The only bad thing about this is the size –  I wish it came in a bigger size. But you can’t go wrong with the price for the size!

What it’s called: Detergent for Puff and Sponge

How much it costs: $2.80

Where to buy it: Daiso

Would I repurchase: YES

Colgate Plax Freshmint

I’ve repurchased this twice, and it’s quite cheap compared to some of the other mouthwashes on the market. It does the job and the sizing is fine.

What it’s called: Colgate Plax Freshmint 500ml

How much it costs: $3

Where to buy it: Coles, in-store only

Would I repurchase: Yes

Clean & Clear Essentials Moisturiser 100ml

When I bought this, it came in a trio pack with a toner and facial wash but I’m not sure if you can still buy that or not. I really like this moisturiser, as quoted on the packaging:

Oil-free – won’t clog pores. Moisturises without greasiness, helps prevent pimples and blackheads.”

This would be ideal for anyone who has oily skin, as this has no oil in it and it’s not greasy. I like how it comes in a 100ml bottle, which is great for travelling and can be easily dispensed.

What it’s called: Clean & Clear Essentials Moisturiser 100ml

How much it costs: $7-$8

Where to buy it: Chemist Warehouse, Priceline or Coles

Would I repurchase: Yes

Phisohex

I’ve used this for over a year and have repurchased it every time. It’s become my everyday facial wash for a while now. It’s an anti-bacterial face wash that was recommended to me and comes in 200ml and 500ml. I do find that it is a bit pricy, but it goes on sale often, so that’s when I stock up on it. I don’t like the packaging, because it’s so inconvenient. When you get close to finishing the bottle, it’s really hard to get the last bit out, because you have to keep the bottle tipped upside down to eventually get the product out. That is my only complaint about the product really. It dispenses as a white liquid and doesn’t have any strange smell to it or anything.

What it’s called: Phisohex Antibacterial Face Wash 500ml

How much it costs: $10 for 200ml, $20 for 500ml

Where to buy it: Chemist Warehouse, Priceline or Coles

Would I repurchase: Yes

Nivea Hydro Care Lipbalm

I love Nivea’s lip balms, seriously I’ve tried about every single one in that range – Nivea should sponsor me haha. I find this one is my favourite out of all of them though. It’s clear, has SPF, travel-friendly, great packaging and pretty much does its job. It’s also super afforable too! I’ve seen some lipbalms even sell for over $10, and that’s way too much to spend on a lip balm in my opinion. I mean unless the packaging is like diamond encrusted, I don’t think such a high price is necessary haha!

What it’s called: Nivea Lip Care Hydro Care 4.8g

How much it costs: $3.50-$4.50

Where to buy it: Priceline, Chemist Warehouse or Coles

Would I repurchase: Yes
