Review: Skinfood Black Sugar Mask Wash Off

Welcome back for another post!

Today I wanted to give you all a review of the Skinfood Black Sugar Mask Wash Off. I purchased this off iherb (use ‘IRE3520’* for 5% off), but it’s also available from other online retailers. I’m not sure about physical locations, as I can not find it in stores in my area.

I love Skinfood, I’ve tried their rice wash off mask and it was really gentle for a wash off mask.

The description as shown on the back of the packaging:
A mask that contains mineral-enriched Brazilian black sugar, and promotes smooth, glowing skin.”

The instructions:

“To use: After cleansing, massage onto damp face, avoiding the eye and mouth areas. To minimise irritation, add water or toner while massaging. Leave for 10~15 minutes. Rinse off with lukewarm water.”

What it looks like                             What it looks like once it’s been massaged in

The ingredients:

Sucrose, PEG-7 Glyceryl Cocoate, Glycerin, Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax, Macadamia Ternifolia Seed Oil, Lanolin, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Cetyl Ethylexanoate, Stearalkonium Hectorite, Butyroseperum Parkii (Shea Butter), Limnanthes Alba (Meadowfoam) Seed Oil, Sorbitan Laurate, Butylparaben, BHT, Caramel, Parfum”

First impressions:

  • The packaging

I love the compact tub that it comes in. It’s great for reusing once you finish the product, so you can store cream or anything you like.

  • The smell

It smells very nice, reminds me a bit of lemons, but also kind of like coca cola. It’s quite a sweet scent.

  • The granules

They’re not very abrasive which is great. The sugar might even melt a bit, if you’re in a hot climate.

  • Washing it off

It’s very easy to wash off, but of course take extra precaution around the eye and mouth area.

  • The after effect

Afterwards my skin looked so glowy and felt so soft.

Overall:

I really liked this from the moment I used it. I’ve been using it 1-2 times a week as a physical exfoliator, as I also use chemical exfoliants every 2nd or 3rd night. I really recommend this for people who want glowy skin, as it’s a great exfoliator. If you have sensitive skin, make sure you add a bit of water before you massage it in, in case it is too rough for your skin.

Have any of you tried this mask before? Comment your thoughts! If you have a favourite exfoliator, let me know below as well!

Until next time xxx
