Single Brush Review:
#1: I used this for foundation and found that it glided on very well. It made my foundation look flawless on my skin. I recommend it for cheek use because of it’s large oval shape – it can cover more surface area.
#2: I also used this for foundation, but on my forehead area, as #1 would be too big for the forehead area. Same results as #1, it glided my foundation on smoothly.
#3: As stated above, this can be used for foundation too. I used it for light contour/bronzing. I use powder contour, and found that it didn’t blend out very well on my skin. However, this might work better with a cream contour – if anyone has tried this please let me know how it went!
#4: I used this for my blush and found it really distributed the product well. I used a powder blush and it worked out fine. I tap the blush on first and then blend it out to achieve a lighter/natural looking blush.
#5: This is really good for highlighting the cheekbones and forehead. It’s also ideal for nose contour – that being said, I don’t ever contour my nose because I already wear glasses and it just looks messy with contour.
#6: I tried this for my eyebrows and didn’t like it, mainly due to the lack of precision. If I were to use an angled or eyeliner brush, I’d achieve better results on my brows. However, it’s good for highlighting the brow bone, nose, cupids bow and cheekbones if you’d prefer a more subtle highlight – compared to #5.
#7: Same results as #6 as this is just a smaller version of it. This is also great for brow bone highlight, if you’ve got more arched eyebrows because it fits the space perfectly. Everyone’s got different eyebrow shapes, but both #6 and #7 worked well for my brow bone highlight.
#8: I didn’t like this brush that much. It was way too thin in my opinion and didn’t do much for me. I used it to highlight my brow bone but due to the wonky shape it highlighted over my brows instead, rather than under it. It didn’t pick up as much product as the others either. I did however find that it was decent at carving out my crease, but I’d have to be a little more heavy handed to get a decent application.
#9: I didn’t like this as a lip brush, but I loved it for eyeshadow! Seriously, this was the right size for doing a cut crease on my eyes. I have a lot of eyelids which makes eye makeup difficult at times, but after using this brush for it, I’ll start attempting more cut creases!
#10: Same results as #9.
+:
- Convenience
Having a 10 piece set is very convenient as you’ve got all the brushes to do your makeup.
- Super soft
These are seriously so damn soft, it’s like brushing up against a dogs fur!
- Handy
Having a handle makes them so much easier to use.
- Perfect for beginners
These are perfect for anyone who is starting out with makeup, as they’ll have time to play around with these brushes and create their desired looks.
- Perfect for makeup set
These brushes are perfect for those who freelance or for someone who is looking to develop their makeup set/kit. All the brushes are there and ready to go.
- Multipurpose
What I mean by this, is that just because one brush is ‘meant’ to be used for one purpose, doesn’t mean you can’t use it in other ways. I used brushes #9 and #10 for my eye makeup because, they fit my eye shape perfectly so that I could do a cut crease.
- Travel friendly
These brushes are so travel friendly, you could even take them in the box that they came in! They don’t take up much space, and are only about a hands length.
-:
- Bit hard to clean
I found that they’re not as easy to clean as other types of brushes. Especially with #1 to #3 as they’re a big bigger than the other brushes, they take a little more time to clean.
- Colour
As you can see in my images, they’re dual-toned: top of the brushes are brown, whereas the rest of the brush is more yellow. I found this to be a bit deceiving when I was cleaning foundation out of them. I wasn’t sure if the top was clean or not because the foundation was similar in colour with the top part of the brushes.
- Can be a bit pricey
The brushes might not be totally affordable for some people, which I totally understand. But you do get value for your price with these.
Overall:
Overall, I found the brushes to be very good. There are just a few things about them that didn’t do so well for me. I would give them an 8/10.
If you’d like to try these brushes out for yourself, you can get them here, they’re on sale now too AND with free shipping. You can even use the code ‘IRENE’ for 20% off storewide.
If these brushes aren’t your thing, they’ve also got other makeup tools you can purchase. Simple Glam Girls have recently released purple unicorn brushes, which are available in 2 sets, but if you can’t decide, you could even buy the set of 2. They even stock the silicone makeup sponges everyone raves about!
Thanks for reading my review, see you back here on Saturday. If you can’t wait that long, I post daily on my Instagram account which you can follow here.
Enjoy the rest of your week!
