Hello my friends!
Welcome back to another review – today I will be reviewing two products from the new HOLA Instant Soothing range that I have been trialling for over a month now. I chose the 3 in 1 Serum Pen* and Repair Essence Oil* because they seemed really interesting and I wanted to see how they would go on my skin.
My skin generally doesn’t react that much to new products, but I have been experiencing eczema related issues around my neck every now and then. They just occur randomly so I have been quite conscious of what products I do use on my face and my neck.
The Instant Soothing range is recommended for those looking to instantly calm and correct any sensitive skin issues. It’s suitable for those who may be experiencing redness, inflamed skin, dehydration, itchiness or even flakiness. The main ingredient in the range is Pink Lake Algae, which I haven’t heard much about, but generally speaking, I know seaweed is a really good ingredient for the skin when topically applied or even consumed!
So starting with the HOLA Instant 3 in 1 Serum, this comes in a pen form and has 3 hero ingredients – Pink Lake Algae, GPI and Glycoin Natural and Ceramides and Vitamin B5. It claims to help calm the skin and also strengthen the skin barrier.
The first thing I noticed about this was the packaging. It’s quite innovative, I haven’t seen anything like this before and that’s what caught my eye. So the serum is dispensed as you pump the pen – which also has a nifty lock!
The serum itself is a little viscous and is almost transparent. There is the slightest scent which I don’t mind, it’s barely noticeable unless you really try to sniff it out. I’m not a huge of heavily scented products, so this is nice! A little goes a long way with this one. I find 2-3 pumps is enough for my face and neck. I used it day and night, sometimes just during the day, and other times just at night, depending on what other products were in my routine for that day.
So how did I go after trialling this for a month? Firstly, it lives up to its claims. I didn’t have any reaction to it whatsoever. I found it also helped hydrate my skin over time and I’ve seen a difference in my skin barrier, it just looks and feels healthier. I like that it doesn’t have that sticky feeling either, because who likes that residue feeling – definitely not me.
Next up we have the HOLA Instant Soothing Repair Essence Oil and who doesn’t love a good facial oil. This oil is a combination of the Pink Lake Algae, sweet almond oil and macadamia oil. It claims to help calm and soothe sensitive, red and irritated skin.
What stood out to me was also the packaging! Firstly that gorgeous purple shade for the bottle, with the silver lid and white text – just looked so perfect together! Now the dropper is a bit different too, I haven’t seen many products with this kind of dropper where you push down the lid to “suck up” the oil.
The oil is very lightweight, it’s like water. It has a slight tinge to it, besides that it’s pretty much translucent as well. I can smell a bit more of a scent off this one, compared to the serum. It’s not a bad scent, nor is it overpowering, but it’s worth pointing out. I liked to use this at night, just because I didn’t want that “oily” look in the day time if I was going out. However, if I was home and felt my skin needed some love, then I’d use this in the day time.
After a month of using this, I found my skin to be more hydrated and soothed. During winter, my skin was a little dry, and with Sydney being in lockdown for those months, my skin wasn’t at its best. I started using this in spring, and I feel it has helped just put some life back into my skin. Lockdown was only lifted just before the middle of October but I wasn’t able to go out until the end of October, so this was a nice way to I guess, “prep” my skin for when I’d be wearing makeup more and going out often etc.
Anyways, I’m done rambling. Overall, these are both winners in my book! I really recommend them if you’re after something hydrating to add into your routine, or if you’re looking to repair a damaged skin barrier. These have been tried and tested on my skin, including my somewhat sensitive neck, and I didn’t have any issues – I hope that’ll be the case for you as well if you’re interested in trying these out.
I can’t believe it’s November already, despite being in lockdown for months this year, I’m still excited to have a little break from work – hopefully we won’t be in lockdown again.
That’s it from me, have a great week everyone!
With love,
