Let’s Swatch My Lip Collection

Hello my friends!

I haven’t been purchasing any new beauty products since lockdown, I’ve only been purchasing replacements. So I thought today I’d do a little ‘shop my stash’ and go through my lip product collection.

I used to have loads of lip products, but I like to routinely clear them out and bin the ones that I no longer use. Since the pandemic, I’ve barely been wearing makeup so sadly my makeup has been sitting in my drawers untouched.

So what I currently have in my collection are:

  • YSL Rouge Volupte Shine in 12 Corail Incandescent (sample size)
  • Revlon Kiss Glow Lip Oil in 008 Berry Brilliant
  • Revlon Kiss Glow Lip Oil in 002 Red-y To Glow
  • Revlon Kiss Glow Lip Oil in 009 Bouncy Beige
  • Rimmel Lasting Finish Matte Lipstick in 160 Chestnut Rose*
  • Rimmel Lasting Finish Lip Liner in 110 Spice*
  • Savvy Nourishing Lip Liner in Chestnut
  • Rimmel Oh My Gloss! in Crystal Clear

YSL Rouge Volupte Shine in 12 Corail Incandescent

This is actually finished now! I’ve just kept the packaging because it has the shade name on it and I want to purchase the large size in the future. I got this from Meccaland…2 years ago? Loved the shade, packaging and the scent! I’ve never tried coral colours before, but this has changed my mind. It gives a really nice, subtle wash of colour on my lips and it’s not too bright or anything like that. I don’t think it’s very long lasting, I do find I have to reapply after eating/drinking. Overall, really nice colour!

Revlon Kiss Glow Lip Oil in 008 Berry Brilliant

I have 3/4 of the original Glow Lip Oils but since then, they’ve come out with more shades. This was my first time trying a lip oil and I was pleasantly surprised. They feel very comfortable on the lips and yes, they do somewhat rub off with eating and drinking as well. I love all three shades that I own, Berry Brilliant is a bit closer to red, though it still has a pink tone to it. I love how it looks on my lips because it just looks so natural. This is my go-to when I want a nice lip to finish off my look!

Revlon Kiss Glow Lip Oil in 002 Red-y To Glow

I find Red-y To Glow to be more pinkish, it looks like a light pink on my lips/skin tone. I’d go with this one if I want a more subtle look. The Berry Brilliant gives you a nice coloured pout, but the Red-y To Glow is a little muted, on me, it’s like a MLBB with the added shine.

Revlon Kiss Glow Lip Oil in 009 Bouncy Beige

Now Bouncy Beige is a very light nude, it’s my go-to when I want little to no colour on my lips, but I still want something there. On my lips it looks like I’ve just applied a clear gloss. On days where I want a shiny lip, I’d choose this one. The formula (same with the other shades) is so hydrating, I don’t put any lip balm underneath. Same as above, they don’t last long but I love the versatility of the shades and how they range from a darker lip to a barely there!

Rimmel Lasting Finish Matte Lipstick in 160 Chestnut Rose*

This is definitely one of the most comfortable matte lipsticks I’ve ever tried. I received this and the lip liner below from Beauty Crew as a trial/review. I had to choose the shade based on what it looked like online, but thankfully this shade is right up my alley! If I want the boldness of the colour, I’d apply with the usual amount of pressure. However, if I want a more muted colour, I just dab it on my lips and use my finger to spread it out. I find this is pretty close to my natural lip colour. It also lasts pretty well, like even though it might slowly come off, it still leaves a tint on your lips!

Rimmel Lasting Finish Lip Liner in 110 Spice*

This pairs really well with the lipstick and lasts on the lips. For lazy days I just use lip liner and a clear gloss. It’s slightly darker than my natural lip colour, so when I use it with a gloss, I make sure it’s blended out properly. I would say it’s kind of a reddish nude tone, and would look great/more natural on those with more pigmented lips – they could probably get away with using this lip liner alone.

Savvy Nourishing Lip Liner in Chestnut

One of the most affordable lip liners on the market but don’t let the price deter you because the quality is great. As you can tell, I stick with similar shades when it comes to lip products haha. I love this colour, it’s not as dark as the Rimmel lip liner but still along the same tones as my natural lip colour. I pair this with a gloss 99% of the time, but I ensure the lip liner is blended in before going in with the gloss – no one wants to see awkward, unblended lip liner. If I need to, I go in again with the lip liner to define my lips, mostly around the “curvy” parts of my lips.

Rimmel Oh My Gloss! in Crystal Clear

Last but not least, the gloss I’ve been mentioning for the past few products. I really wanted a clear gloss after seeing it make a bit of a comeback on IG. This one is pretty cheap when it goes on sale for half price – perfect time to stock up any product ;). It’s really moisturising, but it does not last. It claims to last up to 6 hours, but I find it rubs off pretty easily. I always top up after eating/drinking. This gives my lips a really nice shine and wears very comfortably on my lips. Best part is you can wear it however you like – alone, with a lip liner, on top of a lipstick, etc!

So there you go, we’ve swatched my current lip collection. Going through all these products was really fun, I really miss going out, doing my makeup and topping it up throughout the day. I hope Sydney’s lockdown comes to an end soon and I hope everyone has been keeping well and safe in the meantime!

Are there any stand out colours here or are you more of a red lip, nude lip, or pink lip wearer?

With love,
