Meet me Mondays with Sally – @sallyokaytalks

Hello everyone and welcome back to another monthly interview!

This month I’ll be interviewing Sally from @sallyokaytalks. I’ve been following Sally for maybe a year or so now? I remember when I first discovered her as she was just starting out her Instagram page. I go to her page often to seek out reviews on Korean skincare products because we’re into very similar products. Her page also features an abundance of flatlays and reviews on both skincare and makeup! Keep reading to learn all about Sally 🙂

Tell us about yourself.

Hi, I’m Sally.

I’ve recently turned 26 and I reside in Sydney, NSW. I am married and have two children (well one is currently on the way). I love to attend boot camp as it includes circuit and HIIT training which allows me to have my “me” time away from the chaos of being a working mum, a few times a week. Though my midwives have told me I need to slow it down as I’m so close to my due date now so I’m pretty saddened by that but for the health of my baby, I’ll do as I’m told.

I used to absolutely love reading but stopped when I had children. I would love to pick it up again though. Of course, I also love all things beauty related! I’m mostly addicted to Korean skincare but love to explore pretty much anything.

What’s some of your favourite foods?

I absolutely love Vietnamese food!

Specific dishes that I enjoy are bun bo Hue (spicy beef noodles soup) and banh bot loc (clear shrimp and pork dumplings). I do also love good Japanese, who can resist sushi!

Are there any beauty products that you’re loving at the moment?

I am currently addicted to:

  • Drunk Elephant B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Serum (which I’ve run out of but won’t replace for a while since it’s so dearly priced)
  • Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream
  • By Wishtrend Mandelic Acid 5% Skin Prep Water (also just ran out of this one too and do plan on repurchasing after I use up more of the products I already have)

What was your most recent makeup purchase and could you give us a little review on that?

Hmm, my most recent purchase was Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream.

Does that count as makeup? It’s listed as makeup in Mecca Maxima so I’ll choose that. I absolutely love this stuff! I feel like it’s magic for my skin. It keeps my skin so well moisturised but also keeps it looking flawless because of the tint in it. It also contains SPF 30 which I’m super thrilled about as it protects my face. I use it every day during my working week and love that it provides pretty good coverage for a tinted moisturiser. I will definitely be purchasing it over and over again. I think I’ve found my holy grail product!

Are there any products in your wish list at the moment?

Ahh, this is a little difficult since all the products that were on my wish list have been gifted to me for my birthday in mid July. I’ll write a few products that I wouldn’t mind being part of my collection.

Farsali Unicorn Essence
Murad Essential-C Cleanser
Drunk Elephant B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Serum

What’s something you’re looking forward to this month?

My due date is at the end of August, so I am definitely looking forward to meeting my little one!

Other than that, I really can’t wait to finish up work to start my maternity leave mid this month because I’m starting to feel so heavy and tired now.

What’s a trend that you never got on board with?

  1. Lash lifts
  2. Messy/bushy brows
  3. Coloured winged eye liner

Congratulations on growing your little family! Have you chosen any names yet?

Thank you so much! We had the name chosen well before she was conceived! We’re all set and ready to go now. I won’t share the name until she’s born though so we’ll keep it a surprise for now.

What’s something your followers might not know about you?

My current full time occupation is administration and has been for years now. I have a spray tanning business (@parlourdebeaute) that I’m about to launch this year which is super exciting! I also wish to pursue a career in beauty therapy one day.

Where can we find you on social media?

You can find me on Instagram for beauty related content!

My handle is @sallyokaytalks – come say hi!
