So I finally tried the Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Setting Powder…

Hello my friends!

Welcome back to another post, this week I am talking about the Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Setting Powder. I picked this up from Sephora earlier in the year, because my Too Faced Peach Perfect setting powder was running low. I got this during one of Sephora’s sales, I think I got it for 15% off, whilst isn’t a huge discount, it’s better than full price. I’m only a white member, after dropping down from black last year, hence the smaller saving.

After doing hours and hours of research and maths (I calculate whether each powder was worth it based on gram and price), I settled on the Fenty Beauty Powder because it was economical (given the discount) and came in a good size – 28g. When I first bought the TF one, it was $49 for 35g which is so worth it at $1.40 per gram. It’s now at $54, which is $1.54 per gram. In comparison to the Fenty one, when full price, it’s $1.57 per gram, and with 15% off it came to $1.33 per gram. To put this into some context, the Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder is $62 for 29g and therefore $2.13 per gram! Whereas a drugstore powder, like the Rimmel Transparent Loose Powder is $15.95 (full price) for 10g, sits at $1.59 per gram, which is more expensive than Too Faced and Fenty per gram. The size is smaller as well, so that’s something to consider.

Anyways, enough with the maths. I normally use translucent setting powders, so when I saw that Fenty had coloured ones, I was a bit caught off guard. However, after consulting with some Instagram friends and reading online reviews, I settled on getting the shade Butter.

It arrived some few days after ordering and I loved the packaging, both inside and out. The box was so nicely designed and the container for the powder had the signature FB design and embossing. It also came with a plastic lid for the powder, which was hidden inside the box. I was first taken away by the scent – it smells like vanilla cake! The texture of the powder was very soft as well, it blended well onto my bare hand.

Now came the big day, I used it last month for my birthday outing, you can check that out here and the verdict is….I loved it. I wore a mask that day (outlined in my post) and set it with this beautiful powder and my makeup was immaculate. It was so matte and smooth, I was so impressed.

On a separate occasion, I used it to set my sunscreen (pilling issues grr) and no problems there as well!

All in all, so glad I picked this up and it’s so worth the hype! I would pay full price for it as well, though I do love my sales and discounts haha. I’m so so impressed by it. Worth noting I did use it to bake as well, and it didn’t give me any ghastly white cast. The colour doesn’t show up much when applied onto my foundation/base products too, which is a bonus!

I would love to know if you’ve tried any Fenty products before – what were the standouts?

Have a great week!

With love,
