Meet me Mondays with Emmie – @emmiesbeautylife

Hello everyone!

Happy October and welcome to another interview, this month I’ll be interviewing the lovely Emmie of @emmiesbeautylife I haven’t been following her for long, I think for a couple of months now and she is so lovely. Please check out her account when you have the chance!

Tell us about yourself

Hi, I’m Emily.

I’m 30 years old and I live in Mount Isa which is in North West Queensland. I work at a garden nursery/aquarium shop and in my (non existent) spare time, I like to spend time relaxing at home with my partner and our two cats, Jess and Parker.

What have you been loving at the moment?

1. Race Chaser – I’m a RuPaul’s Drag Race fan from way back when and this is a podcast hosted by Drag Race Alumni Alaska and Willam, going through every single episode of the show. It’s hilarious and a must for anyone who loves the show.
2. The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance – It’s a 10 episode series on Netflix that’s a prequel to the 1982 film. Probably my favourite new TV series of the year. And even if you haven’t seen the movie, I still recommend you watch the show because it’s very easy to get into. I’ll be a little devastated if it doesn’t get renewed
3. Binging with Babish – Definitely my favoruite YouTuber at the moment. He recreates dishes from TV Shows. Sometimes totally accurately. Other times, he puts his own spin on it. So soothing to watch. And as someone who thoroughly enjoys learning about cooking, I’ve learnt a lot through watching him too.
   

What was your most recent beauty purchase and why?

That I have with me?

The new Ole Henriksen Phat Glow Mask. I bought it because I had seen the positive reviews and I wanted to try something new. But I also made a sneaky order on Charlotte Tilbury for the new foundation that has been number one on my review list since it was announced.

What came first – your Instagram or your blog? What inspired you to start your account?

I’ve been on and off IG since I think 2013. I got fully involved on the beauty side around 2015. I started the Emmie’s Beauty Life Instagram in Feb 2018 and the blog started on May 31, 2018! The main idea of Emmie’s Beauty Life was to show the rest of Australia that beauty wasn’t just confined to the big city and that there is beauty everywhere. I really wanted to add a different voice to the Aussie Beauty Community.

Is there anything you’re looking forward to this year?

I’m heading to Supanova in Brisbane this November which is very exciting!

Also l’m excited to catch up with all of my Brissy friends that I haven’t seen for a while.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

I sincerely do not know how to answer this question. Only because anything could happen. I hope that in five years, I’ve left Mount Isa, am still with my partner and living a good life.

Are there any brands that you’d love to see in the Australian market?

There are certainly brands I wish were more accessible. Brands like Charlotte Tilbury and Milk are popular ones but I would also like to see brands like Lorac and Buxon finally make their way over here eventually.

Do you have any fears?

Definitely Loss. Losing my family, losing my Partner, losing my cats. Just losing the thing in my life that I can’t imagine living without.

What’s one holy grail drugstore product that you own?

Oh god, my holy grail. That’s like asking me to pick my favourite cat. If I had to choose one, it would probably be my beloved Maybelline Fit Me Concealer. I’ve been through more tubes of that than I can count over the years and it’s just so consistently good.
