Review: John Frieda Luxurious Volume Core Restore #gifted

Hello!

As some of you might remember, I did an IG poll in March and all of you wanted a review on the John Frieda products I received. I have been trying to pump out as many blog posts as I can, whilst studying for uni – hence the lateness of this post.

I have given these 3 products a fair few trials and I can now let all of you know my thoughts!

I was gifted:

  • John Frieda Luxurious Volume Core Restore Protein Infused Shampoo
  • John Frieda Luxurious Volume Core Restore Protein Infused Clear Conditioner
  • John Frieda Luxurious Volume Core Restore Advanced Protein Volumiser

John Frieda is the only brand who has a tailored solution for these specific hair problems. With ongoing use, this range has left hair with 2x the strength and 2x the volume. This range allows women with fine, brittle hair to have a transformative experience when using these products, tailored to their evolving volume needs.

For women with weak hair, 84% say that how their hair looks affects how they feel about themselves. They’re wanting hair that looks normal, healthy and beautifully maintained to build that inner confidence.

Protein Infused Shampoo:

Maximise volume and vitality.

Lifting off with the shampoo, with volume polymer for added volume, the shampoo effectively acts to create space between hair fibers for volume building strengthening care.

Fine hair lacks the protein necessary for strength, body and power to hold style. Strengthen fine hair to maximise volume and vitality. Core Restore shampoo with protein-strength complex, brings protein-deficient hair into balance by unlocking a new level of touchable volume.

Directions:

Gently massage into wet hair and rinse well. Follow with conditioner.

Safe for colour treated hair.

Ingredients:

First Impressions:

Smells really nice and the formula is super lightweight. Leaves my hair feeling super soft.
What I like:

  • Packaging

Super easy to use when it comes in a tube like this. I also like the material because I can then cut open the tube when I have almost finished the product and get out whatever is left.

  • Smell

Smells lovely, which is exactly what you want from a shampoo, right?

  • Lightweight formula

Super lightweight formula, makes shampooing that much easier.

What I don’t like:

  • Nothing

I can’t fault this shampoo. It’s great!
Overall:

It ticks all the boxes for me! My hair feels more voluminous since I’ve started using it.

Protein Infused Conditioner:

Infuses for weightless volume.

Follow with the conditioner, the first conditioner with a clear gel formula, purposely free from heavy ingredients, such as fatty alcohols or heavy silicones, so hair is never left flat and lifeless.

Unlike traditional conditioners, this one has a clear formula with Protein-Strenght complex. Without heavy ingredients, it detangles and weightlessly absorbs into hair without coating it. For hair infused with body and strength for a new level of volume.

Directions:

Apply throughout wet hair after shampooing. Rinse well.

Safe for colour treated hair.

Ingredients:

First Impressions:

Upon first application, I didn’t expect it to feel the way it did, despite the packaging saying that it’s a gel conditioner. The consistency was like hair gel and melted into my hair like a dream. Rinsing it out was easy as well, and it does untangle hair.
What I like:

  • Texture

Super light weight formula! I’ve never tried a gel conditioner before, but I really enjoy the lightness of it.

  • Smells nice

It’s hard to describe what it smells like, but it smells nice – as any conditioner should!

  • Packaging

The packaging makes it very easy to use, tubes are great, as I mentioned above, I can cut it open as I near finishing the product.

What I don’t like:

  • After effect

I’ve used this a few times now, it’s safe to say I’ve used it over 10 times and I’m not sure why, but it makes my hair feel dry at the ends? I’m not sure if it’s the conditioner or if it’s my hair, but this didn’t happen the first time I used it, only the few times after the initial use…I’m still puzzled.

Overall:

I’m not sure if it’s me or my hair, but something in this makes my hair just feel so dry? The first time I tried this, there were no faults, but the times after that…it just didn’t leave my hair feeling as good as I thought it would.

Can’t say I recommend this, but the shampoo is great!

Advanced Protein Volumiser:

Strengthens and transforms.

Finish with the heat activated volumiser, applied to wet hair this formula penetrates and forms temporary bonds between the hairs natural protein chains, to minimise breakage and build additional strength with each use for a longer lasting natural style.

Directions:

Dispense 3 pumps of product and apply to washed, towel-dried hair. Apply throughout. Use more or less depending on hair length and thickness.

Comb through to distribute. Do not rinse out.

Blow dry to activate. Then style as desired.

Use each time you wash your hair,

Safe for colour treated hair.

Ingredients:

HYDROLYZED VEGETABLE PROTEIN PG-PROPYL SILANETRIOL, PEG-40 HYDROGENATE D CASTO R OIL, POLYACRYLAMIDE, BENZYL ALCOHOL, XANTHAN GUM, METHYLPARABEN, PARFUM, TRIETHYL CITRATE, C13-14 ISOPARAFFIN, SILICONE QUATERNIUM-18, ETHYLPARABEN, DISODIUM EDTA , HYDROXYPROPYLTRIMONIU M HYDROLYZED CORN STARCH, LAURETH-7,TRIDECETH-6,TRIDECETH-12.

First Impressions:

The actual bottle is a lot smaller than the packaging let on. Comes in a pump dispenser – easy use and it smells nice. The product is only 60ml, but it should last at least 3 months. Product merges into hair nice and easy. Previously I’ve tried treatments, similar to this, where the product just didn’t penetrate my hair.
What I like:

  • Packaging

Pump is very convenient.

  • Smell

Smells similar to the shampoo and conditioner.

  • Product

I used three pumps as suggested, but I mainly focused it on the ends of my hair. It’s definitely enough to last you a while, if you use it twice a week.

What I don’t like:

  • Nothing

I was pleasantly surprised by the outcome of this. I didn’t know what to expect, but it was pretty good! No faults.
Overall:

I definitely recommend this to anyone looking to try a new hair treatment. To be honest, I am quite lazy in blow drying my hair – I usually let it air dry. But if I’m feeling a little extra, I will definitely use this in my hair!
