Hi everyone!
Today I’ll be reviewing the Go Explore Makeup September Box* that I was lucky enough to receive, thanks to Gemma. Go Explore Makeup is a monthly subscription beauty box based in the Gold Coast in Australia. You receive 3-4 full sized makeup products, with the average box being valued at $48. They also have trial boxes available and you can cancel anytime. To read more about Go Explore Makeup, click here.
The September box was all about Cargo Cosmetics, and I received:
- Cargo Essential Lip Colour – Sedona
- Cargo HD Picture Perfect Lip Primer – travel size
- Cargo Long Wear Lipgloss – Belgium
The other gloss they had for September was in Sunset Boulevard.
I hadn’t heard of Cargo before, so this was a fun way to trial some of their products. I’ve also never purchased a beauty box subscription of any kind, so this was a nice way of experiencing what others do when they receive their beauty boxes.

First Impressions:
The packaging of the cardboard box is so cute! The lipstick itself comes in a mirror-like packaging. The lipstick shade is pretty but unfortunately it doesn’t suit my skin tone.
What I like:
- Formula
The formula of this lipstick isn’t too bad. It stays on well, but like most lipsticks, it tends to come off after eating and drinking so you have to reapply.
- Packaging
I like the outside packaging, it’s so nice, plus the design of the lipstick as well!
- Size
This is 2.8g/0.10 oz. which is a good size for lipstick.
- Lasts a bit longer with the primer
I found that the primer did improve the wear of the lipstick.
What I don’t like:
- Colour
I understand that subscription boxes don’t always give people a colour that suits them because it’s based on stock etc. I wish there were more universal shades of lipstick available, because there’s a higher chance of them suiting everyone’s skin tone.
Overall:
This is a nice lipstick, there aren’t many faults in it except the shade I received. But as I mentioned I understand that it depends on stock.
Cargo HD Picture Perfect Lip Primer – travel size
Lip color stays put, lips are smooth and youthful-looking!
Hydrating lip primer smoothes and defines the lips while it extends the wear of lip color.
Moisturizing formula clings to lips creating an adhesive-like base for lip color.
Peptides smooth and plump the lip surface.
Silica spheres fill in lines and give lips a soft focus effect.
Paraben free.
Directions:
For best results and longer wear, smooth on to clean, dry lips. Allow primer to dry before applying lip color.
Ingredients:
Isododecane, Silica, Talc, Ethylenediamine/Stearyl Dimer Dilinoleate Copolymer, Trimethylsiloxysilicate, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Vp/Eicosene Copolymer, Jojoba Esters, Isobutylmethacrylate/Trifluoroethylmethacrylate/Bishydroxypropyl Dimethicone Acrylate Copolymer, Polymethyl Methacrylate, Trihydroxystearin, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Triethylhexanoin, Cetearyl Ethylhexanoate, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Tribehenin, Propylene Carbonate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Sorbitan Isostearate, O-Cymen-5-Ol, Ceramide 2, Peg-10 Rapeseed Sterol, Portulaca Pilosa Extract, Sucrose Cocoate, Tocopherol, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-38, Palmitoyl Oligopeptide. May Contain (+/-): Mica (Ci 77019).
First Impressions:
This didn’t come with any packaging and it’s the travel size version. The applicator is a doe-foot and the primer is a white paste but once it’s dried it’s clear.
What I like:
- Size
Having a travel sized primer (or any travel sized product) is handy because you’re more likely to finish the travel size than a full size product.
- It works
As I mentioned above, I used this with the lipstick and found that it lasted longer.
What I don’t like:
- Nothing
Overall:
I’ve never used a lip primer before so this was all new to me. The formula works in prolonging lipstick life, and I can’t wait to try it out with my other lipsticks.

First Impressions:
It came in a box but the box looked kind of old and dirty, but the seal wasn’t broken…
Typically I’m not the biggest fan of glosses because I find them to be too sticky. The applicator is flat and I really like the colour!
It has shimmers in it and the colour is a red but it’s not too bold which I like.
I’ve used this on it’s own and I really like it! It gives my lips some shimmer, and looks kind of natural, well as natural as shimmers can get haha.
What I like:
- Shade
I got the shade ‘Belgium’ and I love it, it suits my skin so well.
- Can be worn as a lip topper or alone
I love using it on it’s own because it gives my lips a bit of colour, but it is still very natural looking.
- Size
I carry this with me when I go out just for topping up etc. It also fits in my wallet, because it’s not too thick or bulky.
- Applicator
It’s a flat applicator, which is perfect for applying onto the lips.
What I don’t like:
- A little bit sticky
This is kind of sticky, but not a whole not. It comes off when I eat some foods like frozen yogurt or a burger, but I don’t mind reapplying.
Overall:
As you can tell, I really liked this, I think it’s my favourite out of the three – mainly because I can’t wear primer on its own haha and because the lipstick doesn’t suit me. I can definitely see myself getting more use out of this in the future.
One last comment I have is regarding the small grammatical errors on the card I received inside the box. I think it’s worthwhile to just use spell check before finalising any print, or get someone to read over it, because at the end of the day it’s just these tiny things that can be easily prevented.
That’s all I have for this week, I hope you enjoyed reading about another beauty subscription box that’s available in Australia. Do you subscribe to any beauty boxes?
With love,
Irene
