Brand Highlight – Revlon

Hello and welcome back to another brand highlight!

Revlon – this brand has been around for ages and I have tried a bunch of their products in the past and I have some of their products at the moment! They’re a drugstore brand that tends be a little more on the pricier side. I’ve always viewed the brand as a more ‘mature’ cosmetic brand, though in the recent years, they’ve released some more products that seem to be aimed at a younger market – say teens & young adults. The products I have tried are a mix of purchased items, gratis and free gifts (with purchase) that I have received.

So today, I will be looking at the products I currently own:

  • Revlon Kiss Glow Lip Oils – Red-y To Glow, Berry Brilliant and Bouncy Beige
  • Revlon Colorstay Look Book Palette – Maverick & Enigma
  • Revlon Sculpt and Highlight Contour Kit – Light/Medium
  • Revlon Powder Blush – Just Peachy

And those I’ve tried in the past:

  • Revlon Colorstay Gel Envy Longwear Nail Enamel – don’t remember the shade
  • Revlon Foundation Brush
  • Revlon Blush Brush
  • Revlon Colorstay Lipliner – Sienna & Nude
  • Revlon Photoready Colour Correcting Pens
  • Revlon Colorstay Brow Tint
  • Revlon Insta-Blush – forgot the shade
  • Revlon Colorstay Ultimate Suede Lipstick – Finale

After scrolling through various websites to find the products that I’ve tried in the past, it turns out that I’ve tried more than I expected haha. Now let’s get into it…starting with the products thar I’ve tried!

Revlon Kiss Glow Lip Oils

When I first saw this, I was intrigued because I haven’t tried many lip oils before! I had one from Artdeco a few years ago – which I loved. I got all four shades, though I gifted one to a friend. These look so natural on and give you a flush of colour. At the moment, I’m loving Bouncy Beige, paired with a nude lipliner, it gives me a MLBB look which I love! They do tend to come off a bit throughout eating, drinking, etc. though I don’t mind reapplying. It’s not very sticky, but it’s quite hydrating IMO. Definitely recommend picking this up when they’re half price because they come down to about $10.

Revlon Colorstay Look Book Palette

Left – Engima
Right – Maverick

I was skeptical about these at first, because they’re such tiny pans. I think these would be great for travelling because you can pop it in your hand bag. The packaging allows you to see the shades inside, though I kind of wish it came with a mirror or a tiny brush even – just for more convenience. They’re pretty pigmented and I love both palettes. It’s also available in a green themed palette and a neutral themed palette. Would recommend these if you’re looking for a smaller eyeshadow palette that packs on the pigment.

Revlon Sculpt and Highlight Contour Kit

Left – Blush
Right – Contour

I remember when this first came out, it was everywhere! I got it in the shade light/medium and it’s quite nice. I mainly use it for the contour/bronze shades and kind of don’t touch the other two haha. I don’t use banana powder in my makeup routine, which is why I’ve barely scraped the banana shade. I’m not a fan of the highlight either, it’s pink based, and I prefer gold/yellow toned highlighters. I use the bronze shade more than the contour, though sometimes I mix it. This palette has been shattered a few times as well…but I hope to at least finish the bronze and contour shades sometime soon. I love that it has a mirror, super convenient! Would I recommend this…it’s alright, I wouldn’t say it’s like the best, yeah it’s just alright for me.

Revlon Powder Blush

Right – Contour/highlight
Left – Blush

I believe this is a new shade in addition to the shades they already have. It was a toss up between Just Peachy and Hot Cheeks, but I was afraid that Hot Cheeks might be too dark for me so I went with Just Peachy. It’s a light pink blush that looks quite natural on the skin as it provides a flush of colour, as well as some slight shimmer. Once again, no mirror or brush – I believe their old packaging came with both. I do prefer the larger pan and I can see this lasting me a long time. Would recommend this one and I’m keen to try out the other shades one day!

Now to the things I’ve tried in the past…

Revlon Colorstay Gel Envy Longwear Nail Enamel

I tried this a while ago and I remember that it was really long lasting – longer than expected. I haven’t explored a lot of Revlon’s nail products, but I was surprised by this. I don’t see it being posted much on IG either, I see Opallac and Sally Hansen a lot (both of which I own myself). I only really do white on my toes and ATM I’m using Sally Hansen, so maybe I’ll check out Revlon when I finish my current bottle, though it’s going to last me a life time haha. I would recommend checking out their nail range!

Revlon Foundation Brush

I think they’ve repackaged/changed their brushes. I got the foundation brush as a free gift and I hated it. It was so stiff and barely helped with applying foundation. I ended up tossing it. I’m not sure how their new brushes are, but I’m hoping it’s an improvement from the one I tried.

Revlon Blush Brush

I featured this in my anti haul earlier this year, click here to read about it.

Revlon Colorstay Lipliner

I loved the shade Nude, though the packaging was not great. It snapped my lip liner after a couple of uses so I didn’t get to fully finish the product which was sad. In terms of colour, nude was perfect – I loved pairing it with a clear gloss or a MLBB lipstick for the perfect pout. The formula was good, it stayed on well. As for the shade Sienna, I got this on a whim, I didn’t like the shade as much as I thought I would – mainly because it didn’t suit any of the lipsticks I had already owned. Of course it ended up snapping too, so I tossed it. Loved the formula, but not the packaging so I don’t see myself getting another lip liner from them any time soon, until they fix the packaging, because who doesn’t love purchasing a product only for it to break down on you before you can even finish it!

Revlon Photoready Colour Correcting Pens

I remember when I learnt about colour correcting, I got this when it was half price to try out and it was pretty decent. I don’t see it much in store anymore, so I’m thinking it was discontinued or something like that. I didn’t have a lot of product in it, or maybe I just used too much too fast haha. Though I think it was great back then, when I was a beginner!

Revlon Colorstay Brow Tint

I think I got this as a gift, and it was the wrong shade. I got it in soft brown and it was too light for me. The formula isn’t that great. This is like pen that claims to last all day, and says it gives that ‘microbladed’ effect. I definitely disagree. I found that this smudged off when I ran my finger through my eyebrow. Really disappointing. It didn’t give the microbladed effect either, it just made my brows look kind of patchy and awkward. Not to mention that the formula was pretty wet, which means it’s easier to make mistakes. Wouldn’t recommend this one.

Revlon Insta-Blush

I had high hopes for this as well, I was getting into stick products because I thought they were convenient. This would not apply well onto foundation, it just dragged my makeup around. I tried it on bare skin and it worked well, but I had more scarring back then so having a no makup and only blush look didn’t work out great for me. I tried applying this onto my hand to warm up the product then apply that onto my face – didn’t work. I tried applying a stippling brush straight onto the blush and then applying to my face – very little pigment. I tried my fingers – didn’t work either. In the bin it went.

Revlon Colorstay Ultimate Suede Lipstick

I think this was one of the first lipsticks that I owned. I got red because I didn’t have much knowledge of other colours and I didn’t know what would suit me haha. The pigment was there, it lasted alright, I wouldn’t say hours of wear because it came off when eating etc. Not too bad for a first lipstick I must say. Though this lipstick doesn’t appeal much to me, now that I know more about makeup.

That’s the end of this brand highlight – let me know what Revlon products you’ve tried, loved or hated!

Have a great week!

With love,
