Brand Highlight – Savvy

Hello everyone!

Welcome back to another blog post, today I am talking all about Savvy – the very affordable brand, only available at Priceline. I have two products as my focus today – the Savvy Brow Liner and the Savvy Liquid Concealer.

Firstly, let’s talk about the brand overall. I have always seen Savvy as like the Priceline version of Essence (an affordable European cosmetics brand). They have super affordable products, and like many brands, they have hits and misses. It’s not always a brand that people highly seek, I feel like it’s the kind of brand you purchase when you’re starting out with makeup. I remember sometime when I was in high school, I bought one of their pencil eyeliners and it was only $5! It was a pretty decent pencil, but to be honest, I didn’t really know what to do with it lol. Anyways, unlike Essence, they don’t come up with new collections every few months. They have kept the same products for as long as I’ve known the brand, but sometimes they release like ‘limited edition’ type products, though they’re not really labelled as limited edition.

Anyways, a few months ago I was about to finish my brow pencil at the time (Loreal Brow Expert) and didn’t want to splurge on an expensive brow product because to me, I think affordable brow products do the job just fine. I was honestly just looking for the cheapest brow pencil available to me lol, and I came across this one. The type is very similar to the Loreal one IMO, it’s the triangular tip kind, with a spoolie on the end. Best part was that it’s only $7!!! I know, $7! I know Savvy has other cheaper brow pencils, but they’re the kind you have to sharpen etc. I got the shade ‘Dark’, which is basically dark brown.

Savvy Brow Liner:

A retractable brow pencil with a triangular tip to line and fill the brows. Comes with a spoolie on the end to brush the brows.

Ingredients:

SYNTHETIC WAX, MICA, OZOKERITE, HYDROGENATED VEGETABLE OIL, PARAFFIN, HYDROGENATED VEGETABLE OIL, MINERAL OIL, BEESWAX, MICROCRYSTALLINE WAX, GLYCOL MONTANATE, HYDROGENATED PALM ACID, STEARYL STEARATE, PHENOXYETHANOL, SYNTHETIC WAX, METHYLPARABEN, ETHYLPARABEN. MAY CONTAIN [+/-]: IRON OXIDES (CI 77491/ CI 77492/ CI 77499), TITANIUM DIOXIDE (CI 77891).

My thoughts:

Firstly, very affordable which I have already said. The pencil itself isn’t super hard, nor is it super soft. I had some trouble with my Loreal one as I found it to be too soft, which led to it snapping 😦 It’s the right formula and I love the triangular tip for precision when filling out my brows. Also the added spoolie is great as well, definitely a must for a good brow pencil.

It’s pretty pigmented as well, and compared to their brow pencils (the ones you have to sharpen), I would say these are just a bit more pigmented.

I am also impressed by the shade range because they have a grey! I don’t think I’ve ever seen a grey eyebrow pencil before.

I still have a lot of product left and I can’t wait to repurchase it! This is probably one of the best brow products I’ve used before. BTW, it’s not apart of their permanent range from what I have seen, but I hope they keep making it because it’s so good!

Savvy Concealer:

SAVVY by DB lightweight concealer makes dark circles and imperfections virtually disappear. The wand applicator provides the smoothest application for the most delicate skin areas. Provides buildable coverage with a natural finish. Try pairing with Flawless Finish Liquid Foundation for a flawless complexion.

Directions:

Apply to under eye area and over any imperfections using the wand applicator. Lightly tap and blend in with fingertips or use the concealer brush from the SAVVY by DB BRUSH KIT. Try blending from the outer corners in to keep concealer from settling into fine lines under the eyes.

Ingredients:

GLYCERYL DIBEHENATE/TRIBEHENIN/GLYCERYL BEHENATE/BEHENIC ACID, POLYGLYCERYL-3 DIISOSTEARATE, CETYL PHOSPHATE, CERAALBA, DIMETHICONE, CAPRYLIC/CAPRIC TRIGLYCERIDE, ISODECYL NEOPENTANOATE, ISODODECANE, CETEARYL ALCOHOL, XANTHAN GUM, ALUMINAMAGNESIUM METASILICATE, QUARTZ, TITANIUM DIOXIDE, PROPYLENE GLYCOL, PHENOXYETHANOL/ETHYLHEXYLGLYCERIN, HEXYLENEGLYCOL/OCTANEDIOL/TROPOLONE, IRON OXIDES (CI77491), IRON OXIDES (CI77491), IRON OXIDES (CI77491), GLYCERIN, WATER.

As for the concealer, so initially I just wanted something cheap for doing cut creases lol. This is $5 and I think the cheapest I could find. It has a doe-foot applicator, and well, to be honest, it has a very poor shade range. I grabbed the shade ‘Medium’, which is still pretty beige to me. It also comes in dark I believe, but that is still within the ‘beige’ spectrum. On the stand, it said it is full coverage which I can kind of vouch for.

I tried the concealer out on my under eye area and it covered my dark circles pretty well, but I did have to go in and do two layers before I was satisfied by the results. Surprisingly, it doesn’t crease or anything in the under eyes! Also it does work amazing for cut creases! No disappointments here!

So…in conclusion, I think Savvy is a pretty great affordable brand. Products that I’ve tried and enjoyed include their lip liners and their eye/brow pencils. I think this brand is great for beginners, or those looking to find a more affordable replacement in betweens purchases!

That’s all I have for this week, I hope you enjoyed this little brand highlight. If this is received well, I hope to do more in the future! Send me your suggestions as well, if you have any 🙂

With love,
