First Impressions: Mecca Maxima Beauty Loop Level 1 (2nd quarter)

Hello beauties!

Today I’ll be giving you my first impressions on the Mecca Maxima Beauty Loop Level 1 box for the 2nd quarter. I reached level 1 in February of this year, and just missed out on the first quarter’s box. This is my very first BL box, but I’ve seen lots of people receive them in the past and it has always excited me.

In this box, I received:

Eve Lom Cleanser + Eve Lom Muslin Cloths

I’ve heard a lot of good things about this brand, but I’m shocked by the price tag!

I like how they added the muslin cloth in the sample. It gently exfoliates my skin but I’m not sure if they’re worth the investment of the full sized product.

But I must say the sample is a generous amount – 5ml and lasted me about 3 washes. I’ve never wash my face with this kind of technique before and found that it wasn’t as effective as how I’d normally wash my face. I wasn’t really a fan of the technique.

It has kind of a fruity? scent, and I’m not a total fan of it tbh. But it did feel gentle on my skin which is good, and didn’t break me out.

Would I purchase the full size – No. The price is too much for me and I don’t really like the technique of cleansing that’s recommended with this cleanser.
Grown Alchemist Age Repair Moisturiser

I heard of this brand when it first landed at Mecca. They have a range of different products and I really like the aesthetic of their packaging.

I don’t think this moisturiser is really targeted towards me as it’s ‘age-repair’ and helps reduce wrinkles. I got about 1-2 uses, which I could probably have used in one go anyways. I wasn’t a fan of the smell either.

Would I purchase the full size – No. I wasn’t a fan of this because of the smell and the fact that it isn’t really targeted towards me/my skin concerns.
Mecca Max Pout Pop Lipstick in Born a Bombshell

I was excited to receive this because I haven’t tried anything in the Mecca Max brand before. But I was disappointed by the shade I received – it’s bright pink, which doesn’t suit me at all.

I really do like the packaging though. Instead of being a pull up, it’s a twist cap.

It also smells really nice! I don’t know about you, but I kind of like when lipsticks have a nice smell to it haha. I can’t comment on the formula as I did not use it and gifted it to a friend instead.

Would I purchase the full size – No. I will admit that the price is quite affordable – $20AUD, but I have a ton of lipsticks already and I can’t be sure that this will live up to my expectations.
Urban Decay Troublemaker Mascara

I haven’t tried much from Urban Decay before, but I do like the brand. I’ve been meaning to try their foundation for a while now, but I hate getting matched.

The bristles on this are quite small as you can see, but I didn’t trial the product because I am giving it to a friend.

Would I purchase the full size – Undecided. I am very loyal to my HG mascaras, so it would take an amazing mascara to change my mind. I’ll get there one day, until then, my thoughts are undecided.

Overall, I think this box was alright – not the best but not the worst products inside. I like the idea of the beauty loops boxes because it allows loyal customers to trial different high end products. My only concern is the qualification. To be level 1 you must spend at least $300, if your spending is under $300, you are considered a ‘beauty discoverer’ and therefore do not qualify for a box. I never planned on reaching level 1, but my purchases added up (obviously), and I ended up reaching level 1 this year. I’ve shopped at Mecca for about 1-1.5 years, I’m not too sure.

Thank you for reading my first ever first impressions blog post. If you’ve enjoyed reading this, and would like more first impressions blog posts – please let me know! You can DM me on IG, leave a comment, or leave feedback on my blog 🙂

Also, if you’ve tried these products I’d love to know your thoughts on them!

With love,

Irene

  1. The cleansing cloth used with cleansing skin sounds weird to me. I’d use that cloth if I had a face mask on. I’m a bit sadder by the price too, hence why I’ve held off but I don’t mind if I ever had a sample of it! Great review!
