What I Did For My 20th Birthday + Haul

Hello everyone,

Today I have a special blog post, which was somewhat requested from a poll I did a few months ago. Anyways, it was my birthday about 4 weeks ago and I just wanted to share with you all what I did and what I received. Please note that I am not boasting about anything, I just wanted to talk about what I did, because many of you voted that you’d like to see a birthday blog post and I feel you guys don’t know me intimately enough, so here I am, sharing a bit of my life with you.

I normally don’t have like parties or anything for my birthdays, I always just have dinner with a few close friends. I decided to do this on the weekend BEFORE birthday, so on the 13th we went out for dinner at Meat District Co in Darling Harbour in Sydney. I decided to go for a banquet menu, because I figured it might be a bit cheaper than having all of us pick individual meals and I thought it’d be more worth the money. I met up with my boyfriend first and we hung around the city before making our way to the venue, where I met my other friends.

Unfortunately I didn’t take any pictures on the night as I was in a rush and enjoying my time with my friends!

I made a little party bag for everyone that attended. It was filled with lollies, chocolate and a Krispy Kreme donut. I didn’t have a cake for the night because the restaurant charged a fee and to be honest I didn’t think it was worth paying for a cake AND THE cakeage fee – so I skipped the cake. This whole process was pretty stressful because I had a bunch of uni assignments to do the same week as my dinner, I had people cancelling and just being disorganised but eventually I made it all work and I’m happy with how everything turned out.

The party bag included a mix of – Mars bars, Snickers, Natural Confectionery Smoothie Chews, M&M’s, Milky Bars, Fizzers, Mini Mentos, Alphaliebe Eclairs and Milky Way Bars. The bags with a black ribbon were for the girls – I added some mini beauty items in there as well. For anyone wondering – I got the snacks from Coles and the party bags from Kmart – an 8 pack for $1!

So my actual birthday was on October the 16th, and I had uni which meant I had to wake up at 7:30 but it’s alright because I only had 3 hours of class, then I headed home. I went to a concert at night with my boyfriend, if anyone is interested, I went to the 6lack concert and afterwards we went to get some fast food as most restaurants were closed.

I kept my makeup minimal for the concert because I knew I was going to sweat and be surrounded by so many people and yeah that’s just not an ideal situation to wear a full face of makeup you know haha.

I went out again on the 20th, but just with my boyfriend this time. He talked about this for months, but I didn’t want him to tell me what we were doing because I wanted to keep it a surprise haha. He eventually told me on the night of the concert that he was taking me to climb the Harbour Bridge!

The climb was about an hour long and an additional 30 minutes for doing paper work, changing and just the instructional stuff. The climb wasn’t too bad, we didn’t go very high (I think that one goes for 3 hours), but I was starving the whole time despite having ate breakfast haha. We took some photos on the climb and then we finished! We got to get one of the three photos they took of me and my boyfriend (they also gave us a group photo with the other climbers) which they framed for us. We left and got some ice cream at the nearby ice cream truck and just headed down to Circular Quay for a light snack before walking around some more and then we headed towards the restaurant. It started raining like crazy and storming, but we got to the restaurant just in time.

We ate at Masuya Japanese Seafood Restaurant in the CBD. We got the set menu (Aburi Sushi Course) which was about $88pp, and the food was nice.

The menu consists of:

  • Kaiseki Style five kinds of Appetizer
  • Four kinds of Sashimi Carpaccio
  • Eight kinds of Aburi Sushi
  • Wagyu Rump Steak (140g)
  • Two kinds of Hand Roll (Choice)

Salmon Avo/Tempura Scallop/Tempura Prawn/Spicy Tuna/Teriyaki Chicken

  • Fisherman’s Soup
  • Dessert (Choice)

Green Tea Cheese Cake/Anmitsu/Black Sugar Panna Cotta

  • Green Tea
