Review: Bare Minerals True Oasis Oil-Free Replenshing Gel Cream

Hello beauties!

I did a Instagram poll a few weeks ago and a majority voted for a review – so here it is!

You can purchase this gel cream at Mecca Maxima, it retails for $46 for 50ml/1.7 oz, and is definitely the most expensive moisturiser I’ve ever purchased.

It is suitable for oily-combo skin types. It is also dermatologist tested and non-comodogenic.

The description from Mecca’s website:

Inject a fresh, invigorating burst of oil-free moisture into your skin with this lightweight gel cream. Formulated with a blend of peptides, ceramides, amino acids and algae to smooth and refine skin, imparting vibrancy and diminishing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Suitable for oily to combination skin types.”

Information from the box

Inside the box, there is a pamphlet that explains a few things about the moisturiser:

  •  Helps to combat:

–  dryness
– dullness and uneven texture
– fine lines and wrinkles

  • Helps:

–  skin’s hydration needs

– to maximise moisture levels in skin

– improve overall appearance of complexion

– to smooth rough texture with peptides, ceramides and amino acids

Enough product to cover your face + your neck

First impressions:

  • Packaging

The box + the tub itself are quite simply designed and packaged. There is not a lot of writing etc, that bombards and takes focus away from the product – which keeps it simple for consumers to read about the product!

  • Size

I knew it was 50ml, but when I opened the box I was quite surprised to see how small it actually was

  • Price

I’ve already covered a bit of this, but for me, $46 for a moisturiser is a bit steep. But I wanted to try this at least once, after being recommended it by a Mecca sales assistant.

  • Texture

This is definitely one of the most lightweight moisturisers I’ve ever used! A little definitely goes a long way with this one.

What I liked:

  • The moisturiser

I really liked this moisturiser, it felt so soothing against my skin due to its lightweight texture.

  • Effect

This moisturiser claims to get rid of texture and after using it, I definitely feel that my skin looks and feels smoother. My skin is also a bit brighter and radiant looking.

  • The feel

There is no icky feeling after application – I hate when moisturisers have this effect.

  • Packaging

As mentioned above, I really like the simplistic packaging of the product.

  • Scent

It has a very nice smell to it, not sure if you can describe a scent as ‘soothing’ and ‘calming’ but that is how I feel after smelling it.

What I don’t like:

  • The price

I’ll be honest, the price is a bit too much for such little product. If this was priced in the $20~$30, I would consider purchasing it more frequently. If you look at it this way, $46, is very close to $50 – is $50 really worth it for a moisturiser?

  • The amount

Once again, it’s way too little. Think of it this way – you use it twice a day and there is only 50ml, it’ll be finished before you know it.

  • How long it lasts

I purchased it in the beginning of December, used it twice a day and I have finished the entire thing by mid-February. That’s less than 3 months. When I purchased this, I asked the sales assistant how long it’ll last and she said about 3 months.

Overall:

This is a nice moisturiser, and after trying it out and finishing the product, I have concluded that I will not repurchase it in the future. It’s too expensive for how little product you get and how short it lasts. If the product was cheaper, I definitely would purchase it again.

I do recommend it for people with oily/combo skin, as it really smoothed out my texture and felt very nice on the skin.

If you were to use this twice a day for an entire year, and assuming the product will last up to 3 months – $46 x 4 = $184, that’s a lot of money for a facial moisturiser in one year. There are definitely some better alternatives out there.

I hope you enjoyed this review and helped you come up with your own conclusions on the product. If you’re interested in trying this, just pop into your local Mecca Maxima and ask for a sample and see for yourself.

As always, thanks for reading and have a great week!

With love,

Irene
